The Dhamma Brothers
“An overcrowded, violent maximum-security prison, the end of the line in Alabama’s prison system, is dramatically changed by the influence of an ancient intensive meditation program.”
This is a fascinating study in the power of meditation.
Stillness of the mind uncovers truth. It is the polar opposite of the rock style concert approach of personal development we often see in the West to transform someone’s mind.
This is a study of the opposite and how this ancient and historically proven method, gets results with very little dialogue.
It is currently on Amazon Prime and well worth a watch.
Saying of the week.
“A warrior lives by acting,
not by thinking about acting,
nor by thinking about what he
will think when he has finished acting.”

Way Of The Peaceful Warrior
– By Dan Millman
I was introduced to this book over two decades ago by my mentor at the time Peter Hudson.
It has become one of the most beloved spiritual sagas of our time and is based on the authors real experience as a young man.
It describes how Dan Millman as a college student and world champion athlete, is continually distracted by the feeling of incompleteness and something missing in his life.
One night he meets a strange wise old man who he later names Socrates and his life is never the same again.
It’s a classic tale for discovering life’s bigger meaning and purpose and has been made into a movie staring Nick Nolte. The book though, remains far superior to the film version.
A question I got asked this week.
“What are the health benefits of meditation?”
The health benefits of meditation are actually a side benefit to the main practise of seeking truth in oneself and the sense of complete comprehension of the whole of life, which leads to our own right action.
This sounds deep and maybe even distant but it’s modern life that has made things overly complicated and disconnected.
However, beyond this profound practise are these health benefits below which are not even a definitive list.
Meditation can cure or significantly improve:
Angina
Allergic skin reactions
Anxiety
Depression
Asthma
Coughs
Constipation
Diabetes
Cardiac arrhythmia
Ulcers
Bipolar
ADHD
Dizziness
Chronic fatigue
High blood pressure
Fertility problems
Impotence
Cold sores
Insomnia
Nausea and vomiting during pregnancy
PTSD (Post traumatic stress)
All forms of physical pain – back, headaches, stomach pain, muscle pain, joint pain etc
Premenstrual symptoms
Arthritis
Side effects of cancer, AIDS, multiple sclerosis and other serious illnesses
Nervous disorders
And much much more….
